Issue and Objectives
The project aims to promote social inclusion of young care leavers in the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine through public-private partnerships. The project expect to achieve: increasing knowledge about constraints suffered by young care leavers, existing services in their support, challenges still to be faced and potentialities to be developed by Non State Actors and Local Authorities in each country; improving operational capacities of Non State Actors and Local Authorities in pursuing their mission; implementing effective supporting services for 600 young care leavers by Non State Actors and Local Authorities; increasing Non State Actors and Local Authorities influence on local and national decision making processes affecting young care leavers’ destiny.
Activities
- The research area: it focused on the analysis of the phenomenon of marginalisation of young care leavers and on the identification of the performances and interventions that characterize paths of social inclusion, through biographic interviews and focus groups. One evaluation tool able to measure the effectiveness degree of services and projects in achieving social inclusion will be elaborated.
- The training and mutual learning area: it represented a shared arena of discussion for the partners and other relevant stakeholders where adaptability of previously identified good practices aimed to promote social integration of young care leavers throughout different European areas was encouraged, thanks to specific mutual learning activities.
- The service providing area: effective supporting services for the employment of 600 young care leavers will be implemented through the elaboration of ad individual plan and offering social, educational and psychological support services.
- The advocacy area: a targeted mass media operators awareness campaign will be implemented through information meetings, open doors initiatives, biographic interviews to young people that left residential care.
Results and products
- report about the field phase related to biographic experiences of educators and care leavers, as well as mapping of services;
- closed seminars and round tables for actors of the child protection system;
- transnational training about the issues of young care leavers' employment, the individual approach in offering social support and care leavers’ civic participation;
- study tours in Moldova, Ukraine, Italy and United Kingdom to project sites and social services;
- database of economic actors receptive towards young care leavers' needs;
- support to 600 care leavers in transition process;awareness campaign;
- implementation of a micro re-granting scheme in favou of local NGOs for the start-up of innovative community-based supportive services;
- final Conference and project publication.
